What happens if I travel by automobile?

If you choose to drive their personal cars to the project site, and return home at the completion of the project will be reimbursed using the federal mileage rate.  You will also be reimbursed $10 for every 100 miles traveled.  This will cover the travel subsistence rate while en route to the VISTA project site or home.

 

If you are a passenger in a vehicle, the member will only be paid $10 for every 100 miles traveled.  You will not be reimbursed for mileage.

 

If a candidate relocates and uses their personal vehicle to attend the PSO and the car is not authorized under the project, the candidate will receive the cost of common carrier or the federal mileage reimbursement rate, whichever is less.
