Once you successfully complete your term of service as a VISTA, you will receive an End-of-Service Benefit. You may select from two types of benefits: the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, with a value of $4725, or a cash stipend of $1200 ($100 per month of service).
If you select the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, you will be enrolled in the National Service Trust. Once you complete your service successfully, you will be able to use your education award to:
1) repay a qualified student loan
2) pay the current cost of attending a qualified institution of higher education
If you select the stipend option, this amount will be disbursed to you with the last two living allowance payments upon successful completion of service, as described in the VISTA Member Handbook.
