Montana State Parks Recreation and Natural Parks Steward

Serve under the “Big Sky,” Protect Montana’s Treasures, Tell Its Stories! Montana State Park AmeriCorps Recreational and Natural Park Stewards love the outdoors and are passionate about improving natural ecosystems, promoting recreational opportunities and experiencing Big Sky country’s exceptional scenic beauty, abundant wildlife and amazing geologic formations. Our members ensure that Montana’s natural parks remain significant, accessible and relevant to local, national and international visitors. Members will receive a training and experiences in park management in our four main program goals: enhancing park land, enriching educational opportunities, building volunteer capacity, and strengthening community outreach while accomplishing tasks that go far beyond an entry level park position. They will create educational programs that connect visitors with nature in ways that cause them to learn, reflect and appreciate; develop nature trails; host skills clinics, manage invasive species and restore native ecosystems. Finally, members will organize events both within and outside the parks and develop volunteer opportunities that encourage people to participate in outdoor recreation. Our service terms take place amid the stunning scenery, dazzling waters, geologic wonders, and cultural history of Montana State Parks. These parks are located across the state, and members will serve at individual parks according to their preferences and skills. You can learn more about our program and find our specific position descriptions at: http://stateparks.mt.gov/americorps/
