Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson Cty | Volunteer Lead

Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County’s mission is a direct reflection of the urgent need for safe and affordable housing in our community. Habitat is unique in that we partner with low-income households in order to provide a lasting and permanent affordable housing solution through our affordable homeownership and home repair programs. Habitat is a hand up, not a hand out. Our clients participate in the building and repair of their own homes alongside hundreds of community volunteers led by AmeriCorps. Our community support is built upon our ability to serve our clients and volunteers with a high degree of professionalism, safety, care, and fun. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled.

Member Duties : The Construction Volunteer Lead (CVL) will interact with hundreds of volunteers during the service term to provide leadership, training and support of volunteers and clients in the construction and repair of homes for qualified applicants. The CVL will lead volunteers in construction and repair tasks, provide on-site orientation and safety instruction for volunteers and clients, serve as a crew leader, gain a greater understanding of green building techniques, and maintain safety equipment. The CVL will participate in organizational meetings to help engage more volunteers, improve project outcomes and client experiences, and learn more about the affordable housing mission. Attendance will be required at AmeriCorps team meetings and team training activities. Additional service projects during days of National Service may also be required.
