LP PENCIL Box Mobile Distribution and Volunteer Leader
PENCIL is looking for an organized, energetic, and positive Mobile Distribution and Volunteer Leader with an interest in volunteer engagement, project management, and logistics. The Leader will direct and coordinate the mobile teacher supply distribution program as well as create and manage volunteers for our new “created” items program for the LP PENCIL Box. In addition, the Leader will work to create new procedures around an online shopping model that PENCIL will be creating and piloting in response to new needs related to social distancing. The ideal candidate will understand and appreciate logistics and supply chain management. They will demonstrate volunteer-management skills, excellent communication, organization skills, and great teamwork to build procedures and capacity of new programs to grow each successive year. They will also need to have a desire to help create and hone processes. The candidate must be able to demonstrate creative problem-solving and be adaptable. The ideal candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, drive a 20-foot van, and work outside in a variety of weather conditions to deliver products to teachers in a mobile unit. The Leader participates in a yearlong term (1,700 hours) of AmeriCorps service supporting the PENCIL mission. This AmeriCorps participant is part of a 23-member national service cohort that builds nonprofit capacity through a partnership between Hands On Nashville and participating AmeriCorps host sites. Members receive skills training, professional development, and networking opportunities throughout their yearlong term. Member Duties : -Coordinate and lead the new mobile distribution program to provide 20 high-need Metro schools with supplies. -Develop procedures in conjunction with LP PENCIL Box Manager on van loading, inventory management, and “shopping" at school. -Assist the PENCIL Box staff in procedures for newly created online shopping, with a special emphasis on volunteer procedures for packing online orders for pick-up/delivery. -Create procedures for the new “created” items program for the LP PENCIL Box -Recruit and manage long-term volunteers for new programs of the LP PENCIL Box. -Work with PENCIL Board sub-committee to develop a vision for the new volunteer space, paying special attention to making it aesthetically pleasing but highly functional for the warehouse and volunteers. -Assist with logistics and physically picking up donations and delivery of large donations directly to school sites
