Live Healthy Lane Community Engagement VISTA

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Live Healthy Lane is a community-based effort of cross-sector partners working together on Lane County’s Community Health Assessment and Improvement Plan to improve the health and wellbeing of those who live, learn, work, and play in Lane County. The overarching aim of the work is to improve the behavioral, oral, physical, and social health and overall wellbeing of the community, promote health equity, and reduce health disparities. United Way of Lane County coordinates and convenes Live Healthy Lane’s partners, who include Lane Community Health Council, Lane County, PeaceHealth, Trillium Community Health Plans, and many rural and metropolitan organizations and community members. The VISTA will support Live Healthy Lane by developing approaches and systems that allow for effective, sustainable community engagement with those who are economically disadvantaged in Lane County. By more effectively engaging individuals who are living in poverty, Live Healthy Lane can better develop and implement strategies for alleviating poverty and ultimately the health issues that disproportionally impact people living in poverty such as access to healthcare, food security, and opioid addiction. This position is located in Eugene, Oregon, a town known for its outside recreational opportunities, colorful farmers’ markets, eclectic arts, and the University of Oregon. With successful collaborative public health underway in Lane County, this candidate will be well positioned to develop their career in public health in this position!
