This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training and professional development throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Deschutes County Health Services has a primary responsibility to help address the basic health and wellness of Deschutes County residents. County Public Health assesses, preserves, promotes, and protects the public’s health through disease control, access to health and nutrition services, prevention strategies and monitoring of community health. The philosophy of the Young Adult Hub in La Pine is to allow for a responsive and relevant way to provide intensive community and peer-based support to young adults whose life experience has pulled them off of a healthy and appropriate developmental path. The Young Adult Hub will be expected to demonstrate service delivery and positive impact on the populations it serves. The VISTA member will be serving in beautiful Bend, Oregon. Bend is known as a hub for outdoor activities in Oregon, including skiing, snowboarding, cycling, rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, and other adventures. Bend is also the largest city in Central Oregon and features diverse historical and cultural attractions. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Bend is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health.
