Austin Transportation Dept. Transportation Demand VISTA

The Transportation Demand VISTA will be an active member of the Transportation Demand Management team, helping to develop and implement a variety of programs that engage, educate and encourage diverse people to utilize sustainable forms of transportation (walking, biking, public transit, and carpooling) for daily travel needs. This will help economically disadvantaged residents by reducing their transportation costs, increasing their mobility options, and improving and increasing pathways to opportunity, reducing barriers that keep people in poverty.

Member Duties : Implement Smart Trips Austin, an active transportation options program that aims to reduce single occupant vehicle trips and increase trips taken by foot, bike, bus or shared car. Specifically develop programming in high environmental justice areas and targeted for low-income residents. The VISTA will build sustainability in Austin Transportation Department's community partnerships, in order to better serve communities in poverty, especially seniors and youth. Finally, they will prepare the Austin Transportation Department and their community partnerships for the conclusion of the VISTA project.
