NYC Opportunity Product & Content VISTA Summer Associate
 
 
 
The NYC Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity (NYC Opportunity) helps the City use evidence and innovation to reduce poverty and increase equity. Our work includes a portfolio of initiatives that we have developed with our partners and oversee directly, as well as a set of services that we offer to agencies to support evidence-based policymaking. We pursue our work through five interrelated disciplines: Research, Service Design, Digital Products, Data Integration, and Programs & Evaluation. As a VISTA Summer Associate on the NYC Opportunity Product Team, you will grow your expertise in product and content development and management, digital service design, and public policy analysis and help improve the lives of millions of New Yorkers. This summer, we are building digital tools and services to help New Yorkers access benefits, services, and resources, especially those who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Specific projects VISTA Summer Associate may support include: Working with a design vendor and our internal team to launch version two of GenerationNYC, NYC’s youth portal; working with our internal product team to launch a new website focused on connecting residents to employment and education opportunities; and working with our internal team and design vendor to launch a version of our family resource portal in NYC’s 11 local law languages. We are looking for a VISTA who has a commitment to the mission of advancing greater equality and opportunity through best-in-class digital products and human-centered design practices in government. Ideally, you would have previous experience in content design and development, product and project management, or user research. You do not need to have coding or design skills, but some degree of technical and design fluency will be beneficial for communicating with the project team.

Member Duties : The VISTA Summer Associate will contribute to the successful launch and management of new and updated digital products and services. Responsibilities include: vendor management; developing site content; planning and participating in user testing; testing site functionality; collaborating on launch plan; and contributing to the roadmap and product strategies. NOTE: This is a teleservice position. The VISTA Summer Associate must have access to a computer with internet access (camera and microphone preferable) to perform their assignments.
