TSC VISTA 2020: Heart, Love & Soul
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of New York. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Geneva. During their term of service members will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA leaders.

Member Duties : Heart, Love & Soul was founded in 1982 to address food insecurity during hard economic times in Niagara Falls, NY. This fall, Heart & Soul will build upon its meal services and care management programs to open a community one-stop center that increases access to services. The VISTA project will assist Heart, Love and Soul to open its new program, Daybreak, a one-stop center for the community and for those specifically looking to navigate the robust, yet complex human service network in Niagara Falls. The VISTA will engage in volunteer recruitment, training, and management, as well as drafting, reviewing, and implementing internal policies and procedures regarding service provision. The VISTA will work with community partners to identify how Daybreak can collaborate in providing efficient services to those most in need in our community. This may also include implementing government and health guidelines on how social care organizations may respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.
