Mediation and Restorative Services - Housing Stability VISTA
 
 
 
Since 1987 Mediation Services for Anoka County (MSAC), a 501(c) (3) agency, has been helping families, neighborhoods, schools, landlords, tenants, businesses, consumers, manage and resolve conflict through education and conflict resolution services. Professionally trained and supervised volunteer mediators assist individuals and communities to successfully resolve problems and disputes on their own using alternative dispute resolution methods. Our AmeriCorps VISTA member will help support our organization through focusing on housing stability and restorative practice support in the schools/county, and investigating the various needs of schools and begin to create plans for RP training, mentoring, and support. **This position is part of the Minnesota Alliance With Youth Cohort. This cohort provides a learning community of 20 fellow VISTA members service projects geared toward educational equity. We provide monthly+ professional development training and additional support throughout the year.

Member Duties : • Create systems to identify, communicate, and educate landlords in Anoka and surrounding counties. • Work with housing committee on developing an ongoing training for landlords • Create a foundation to develop tenant communication in Anoka county along with working with other existing organizations in metro area • Create a foundation to develop tenant communication in Anoka county along with working with other existing organizations in metro area • investigate the various needs of schools and begin to create plans for RP training, mentoring, and support. Investigate communication with community to share Restorative Practice. • Build a communication list for interested parties in training, mentoring and support
