Ecolibrium3 VISTA Corps Summer Associate

Ecolibrium3’s mission is to lead and inspire change in our community toward an equitable and sustainable future. Our innovative energy and neighborhood has been nationally recognized for its effectiveness and impact. Most recently, we have been engaged with community COVID-19 response, and are recruiting Summer Associates to assist. Summer Associates will be providing boots-on-the-ground human power as well as capacity building services to two Ecolibrium3 initiatives: Pay It Forward PPE and Places for People. Summer Associates will be engaged with the Pay It Forward PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Project, a community collaboration that supports our local people, frontline workers, health systems, businesses, and nonprofits. We have partnered with Lincoln Park manufacturer Frost River to assemble 360,000 face shields, provide 10,000+ facemasks to residents, and raise over $120,000 for nonprofits in the community through the recruitment of 1,000 community volunteers. The recruited community volunteers will assemble face-shields, and the revenues from the face shields will then be used to provide masks to community members who are at higher risk for COVID-19 as well as donations to nonprofits encountering financial difficulties due to the coronavirus shutdowns. The Summer Associate will spend the first few weeks of service assisting with organizing and recruiting 30 to 35 volunteers to assemble face shields, managing and ensuring safety protocols during the 4-hour volunteer sessions, and aid with distribution of PPE. Upon completion of the PPE project, Summer Associates will assist with preparation for the Places for People Initiative which seeks to empower residents in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Duluth, through a comprehensive program of neighborhood assessment and resilience to address health disparities and ongoing environmental justice issues.
