2020-2021 Pittsburgh, PA - Mentorship Program Coordinator
 
 
 
Most of the clients served by Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh come from generational poverty and lack the skills, resources, and confidence in themselves to become self-sufficient. Since clients approach us during times of crisis, they are focused on their immediate needs, such as accessing food or avoiding a utility shutoff that might lead to eviction. Our agency is dedicated not only to providing help with basic needs, but also to ensuring that clients leave our doors stronger and more stable than when they entered. To that end, we plan to implement a 1-on-1 Mentoring Program to provide clients with another layer of support that is focused on longer-term stability. This program will supplement ongoing case management services and help curtail the cycle of poverty in three critical areas: finances, child-rearing, and employment.

Member Duties : The Mentorship Program Coordinator will oversee the Mentorship Program from inception to launch. The Coordinator will develop or adapt a mentoring curriculum with a focus in budgeting skills, parenting skills, and career planning for immediate implementation with our case management clients in Allegheny County. The Coordinator will be responsible for creating a program structure and budget, recruiting and onboarding volunteer mentors, co-facilitating appropriate orientations and trainings, and collaborating with direct service staff to identify eligible clients and establish/supervise mentor matches. The Coordinator will also work with administrative staff to explore introducing this program in the agency's other counties of operation, as well as establish protocols for yearly program evaluations and data-driven outcomes analysis.
