Community and Volunteer Engagement Liaison (Portland, OR)
Historic Parkrose, located in Portland, Oregon, strengthens community vibrancy through equity and economic opportunity. Our community is an urban neighborhood on Northeast Portland’s urban fringe. The VISTA member placed at our agency will assist in developing the Community Response Funding Pool, a program that unites service providers and resources to create a flexible pathway for houseless and housing-insecure residents to stabilize and re-enter the workforce. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of their time in an office setting. However, the Historic Parkrose VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by engaging business, nonprofit, resident, and houseless stakeholders to devise district-level solutions to help houseless and housing-insecure residents out of poverty. The member will create documents and internal processes to recruit and train volunteers and gather input from district stakeholders, and recruit partners for a network of collaborating service providers. Finally, the VISTA will help design a Community Response Funding Pool program for community stakeholders to flexibly fund basic needs requests from houseless and low-income housing-insecure residents. As a Historic Parkrose VISTA, you will be part of a larger cohort of AmeriCorps VISTAs coordinated by Mercy Corps Northwest. Early applications strongly encouraged. Selections made on a rolling basis.
