Anti-Hunger Corps Summer-Feeding Southwest Virginia
The Anti-Hunger Corps Summer Associate Program aims to create more food secure families and support nutritious food choices. Summer Associate members will expand and support the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and nutrition education programming; improve awareness of nutritious food options at farmers’ markets and the use of SNAP benefits at farmers markets; and raise awareness of and eliminate barriers to SNAP and other food/nutrition-access services. We’re looking for individuals to help us perform community outreach to raise awareness of various food resources available to food insecure people nationwide. Activities include researching, contacting, and partnering with community organizations in target neighborhoods for summer meals outreach, contacting elected officials, community stakeholders, and emergency food providers to raise awareness on summer meals, implementing summer meals social media outreach, and creating summer meals outreach materials. The ideal candidate will be interested in child hunger issues, have experience working with diverse communities, be flexible and willing to work on all kinds of projects, able to work independently and as a member of a team, reliable, and have a good work ethic, organizational and communications skills.

Member Duties : Members will assist with: meal preparation through the production kitchen and/or children’s food truck; delivery of meal orders to site locations; conducting site monitors, assisting with administrative paperwork and addressing problems or concerns with site coordinators; packing, setting up/breaking down and distributing meal boxes for families in our community; mobile pop up meal sites; including travel to sites, meal preparation and distribution and taking meal counts. **Must have a valid Driver’s License for at least three years with a good driving record**
