826 National Development Coordinator
This position is part of the 826 National Network VISTA Program and is located at 826 National in San Francisco, CA. 826 National serves as an international proof point for writing as a tool for young people to ignite and channel their creativity, explore identity, advocate for themselves and their community, and achieve academic and professional success. Our work amplifies and scaffolds the impact of both our national network of youth writing centers and the words of young authors. AmeriCorps VISTA members placed at the 826 National office in San Francisco will build the organization’s capacity to provide vital infrastructure and systems support to our nine writing and tutoring centers in Boston, Chicago, Detroit/Ann Arbor, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New Orleans, NYC, San Francisco, and Washington DC; our chapter-in-development in Dallas; and 826 Digital, our free online platform for educators. VISTA members will have the opportunity to create new systems and enhance current efforts related to program development and management, professional development, fundraising, communications, and research and evaluation.

Member Duties : The 826 National Development Coordinator will develop and improve systems to support, advance, and sustain 826 National’s fundraising and communications, ultimately leading to increased financial resources. Working closely with and receiving robust support and training from the development and communications staff, the VISTA will support the completion of the annual fundraising plan; support the development and execution of heavy fundraising campaigns, such as the Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign; support stewardship of donors to 826 National’s annual fund; research and draft profiles for fundraising prospects; streamline donor archival records in Salesforce; review and refine donor database reporting and mailing list systems; and develop and improve departmental manuals and training materials.
