826DC Volunteer Engagement Specialist
 
 
 
This position is part of the 826 National Network VISTA Program and is located at 826DC in Washington, D.C. 826DC is a nonprofit organization that focuses on encouraging the exploration of endless possibility through the power of writing. Our mission is to empower students with the skills to write their own paths forward, undefined by circumstance, and to support new and exciting approaches to writing and inspire student engagement. We offer a variety of inventive programs that provide under-resourced students ages 6-18 with opportunities to explore their creativity and improve their writing skills including: After-School Tutoring, Field Trips, Workshops, the Writers’ Room, and In-Schools programs.

Member Duties : The 826DC Volunteer Engagement Specialist will implement and grow our Volunteer program in order to ensure individualized attention (i.e., low student to volunteer ratios) for youth programs. Activities will include researching and assessing volunteer program processes, creating and continually editing 826DC’s Volunteer database user manual, design and lead volunteer info sessions.
