2020 Arts on The Block College and Career-Readiness
This position is sponsored by Maryland Out of School Time (M.O.S.T.) Network in Baltimore, MD; the VISTA Member will serve with Arts on the Block in Silver Spring, MD. Arts on the Block is an arts nonprofit organization where creative youth and emerging artists make public art, contribute to their communities, join the creative workforce, and design fulfilling futures for themselves. Arts on the Block is most-recognized for designing, fabricating, and installing large-scale mosaic artwork -all completely done by talented young artists in the DMV area. The young artists at AOB are introduced to professional development, artistic challenges/processes, and pathways to the creative industries.

Member Duties : t Arts on the Block, the VISTA Member will build the capacity of AOB’s college and career-readiness initiative by expanding on the Design Your Future program, which provides emerging creatives in the AOB studio with education/career-exploration and time with Artist Advocates -professional mentors that foster creative careers. More specifically, the VISTA Member will be recruiting, onboarding, and preparing new Artist Advocates to mentor AOB Studio Crew members, as laid out by the Design Your Future program outline. Along with the efforts of the Advocates, the VISTA Member will enhance, revise and continue working on the Design Your Future program’s efforts to help Studio Crew members explore pathways in the creative workforce.
