TSC VISTA 2020: Young Audiences of WNY

The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of New York. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Geneva. During their term of service members will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA leaders.

Member Duties : Young Audiences of Western New York (Young Audiences) is a nonprofit arts-in-education organization that makes the visual, performing, and literary arts a part of young people’s lives. Young Audiences supports children learning core curriculum subjects through the arts, with teaching artists providing in-school and after-school programming, working with teachers to match their curriculum to offer assemblies, workshops, and residencies. Young Audiences hosts the ArtWorks Apprenticeship Program, a multi-disciplinary, arts-based job training program for teens experiencing or at risk of poverty. Apprentices create visual and performing art, learn how to work cooperatively, professionally, and responsibly while earning a wage. The VISTA will expand current ArtWorks programming by analyzing existing data, researching additional funding, outreaching to recruit additional partners, designing and implementing an on-boarding and training program, and creating a new system for data management.
