Filled - Urban Tree Education Coordinator

The Urban Tree Education Coordinator will develop and deliver curriculum and materials for The Nashville Tree Foundation’s Emerald Ash Borer - EAB - education program to create awareness around the invasive beetle affecting the ash trees of Middle Tennessee. The Coordinator will lead volunteer trainings and regularly be involved in community outreach. The Coordinator will also be involved in creating content and resources to engage community members through social media and at events. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic educator, passionate about preserving the environment, and have excellent verbal/written communication skills. The candidate should be comfortable speaking and leading groups. This AmeriCorps Member will gain valuable experience in education program design and implementation. The EAB education program is extremely important to implement in Nashville where 1 in 10 trees is an ash tree, and the impact of the EAB will soon become a public safety issue. The Coordinator participates in a yearlong term - 1,700 hours - of AmeriCorps service supporting the Nashville Tree Foundation in the preservation and enhancement of Nashville’s urban forests by planting trees in urban areas, identifying the oldest and largest trees in Davidson County, and educating the public about the value of trees.
