Filled Volunteer Restoration and Citizen Science Coordinator

The Volunteer Restoration and Citizen Science Project Coordinator position expands Harpeth Conservancy’s Citizen Science efforts by developing its volunteer water monitoring network, expanding public engagement with technological tools such as Water Reporter app, and improving its ability to resolve problems such as trash, erosion, and poor water quality conditions. The Coordinator will lead volunteers in the Be River Responsible program and Don’t Be Crappie campaign, both of which focus on reducing waste by targeting how it ends up in our waterways and by emphasizing responsible recreation. The ideal candidate will have a background in environmental studies, enjoy community outreach and volunteer event coordination, and understand the importance of strategic communication efforts. The Coordinator participates in a yearlong term of AmeriCorps service -1,700 hours- supporting Harpeth Conservancy, a science-based conservation organization whose mission is to restore and protect clean water and healthy ecosystems for rivers in Tennessee, championed by the people who live here. The State Scenic Harpeth that flows through Nashville is among the unique river systems of the Southeast, which contain some of the greatest varieties of aquatic life in the world.
