Filled -Environmental Outreach and Communication Coordinator
 
 
 
The Environmental Outreach and Communication Coordinator engages community members in sustainability efforts including reduction in the environmental footprint, protection of wildlife, and the restoration of streams with Harpeth Conservancy. The Coordinator leads Harpeth Conservancy’s efforts to increase community involvement and public awareness through educational events, creative marketing/social media campaigns involving key stakeholders, and expanded outreach opportunities with established festivals/events. This position also supports Nashville’s Wild and Scenic Film Festival, which connects people to what they can do to reduce their environmental footprint, protect wildlife, and restore streams. This candidate must be a capable swimmer and comfortable in a canoe/kayak. The ideal candidate enjoys meeting new people and creating engaging communication efforts to reach the rapidly growing number of tourists and residents in Middle Tennessee. The Coordinator participates in a yearlong term of AmeriCorps service 1,700 hours supporting Harpeth Conservancy, a science-based conservation organization whose mission is to restore and protect clean water and healthy ecosystems for rivers in Tennessee, championed by the people who live here. The State Scenic Harpeth that flows through Nashville is among the unique river systems of the Southeast, which contain some of the greatest varieties of aquatic life in the world.

Member Duties : - Organize two Wild and Scenic Film Festivals throughout the year and expand their reach - Lead monthly Lessons on the River and other community education events - Manage River Education Day for underserved youth at a summer camp run by partner park organization - Coordinate and create outreach material for website, social media, digital mailings, and electronic communication to promote HC programs to diverse audiences. These topics may include river management, environmental science, stormwater, wildlife education, etc. - Write and implement grants/proposals related to environmental education programs (up to 10% of service hours) - Represent HC at community events - Recruit and train volunteers - Research, participate, and enhance new and existing events - Promote specialty "Rivers and Clean Water" license plate statewide
