Filled - Urban Forestry Coordinator

The Urban Forestry Coordinator’s leadership in neighborhood outreach, education, and tree maintenance will help Root Nashville reach the goal of planting 500,000 trees in Davidson County by 2050. The Coordinator will gain broad experience through seasonal activities: fieldwork, research, outreach, and volunteer management. The Coordinator will spearhead neighborhood outreach and educational activities. From mid-October through the end of March, the member will assist in outreach, logistics, and volunteer management at planting events. During the summer, the Coordinator will support the Tree Care Program by watering newly planted trees. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of partners, including local government, neighborhood groups, environmental nonprofits, and various staff members. The ideal candidate will enjoy outdoor, all-weather fieldwork and feel comfortable using watering and maintenance equipment - all necessary training will be provided. Enthusiasm for working with volunteers, office organizational skills, and interest in environmental work are all a plus. The Urban Forestry Coordinator participates in a yearlong term - 1,700 hours - of AmeriCorps service supporting the Root Nashville campaign.
