2020-21 City of Las Vegas My Brother's Keeper VISTA

In 2017, the city of Las Vegas, Clark County Department of Juvenile Justice Services, and the Clark County School District, in conjunction with numerous community partners, launched the reorganized MBK Alliance. This alliance evolved from the original 2014 My Brother’s Keeper Initiative work with the new aim of developing work groups to take targeted action in improving the lives of boys and young men of color in the Las Vegas, Nevada area. The Alliance has been divided into three primary task forces: Community Engagement, Educational Equity, and Law Enforcement. Leaders and volunteers from each of these sectors convene in task force meetings to work toward specific goals and the development of targeted initiatives related to moving the My Brother’s Keeper mission and vision forward. As a CLV MBK VISTA, your service will start on Monday, August 31, 2020 and end on August 30, 2021. During this time, you will be a full-time member (40 hours a week) and report to work at Las Vegas City Hall. You will also receive the logistic and supervisory support from City of Las Vegas staff and will be eligible to participate in all City of Las Vegas professional development and organizational health trainings and opportunities. As a VISTA member, you are entitled to 10 personal days off for vacation and 10 medical days for medical leave for illness, injury or medical appointments. For VISTA members serving in Clark County, you will earn a living allowance of $479.08 per pay period (total of $12,490 for the year). In addition, for successfully completing your year of service, you have the option to be eligible to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or the VISTA end-of-service cash stipend. The value of the education award is $6,095.00. The value of the end-of-year cash stipend is approximately $1,800.00.
