Master Program Development VISTA Member
 
 
 
This position will focus on the development of the Master Volunteer Program in South Dakota. Objectives include reviewing existing Master Volunteer curricula, identify gaps in content and provide research and development of framework of additional curricula. Vista Member will collaborate with staff to develop additional curricula to fill identified needs. Additionally, Vista Member will work with external partners to work with on developing culturally appropriate food preservation materials, specifically, those who have been active in community gardening efforts in Tribal communities. Food preservation practices are viewed as important to preserve harvest, save money, and increase family’s access to healthy and affordable local food. Visually and quantitatively document the project. Photos, data collection, and record keeping. Overall, the goal of these activities is to build a program that can be sustained long after the VISTA member has completed their service.

Member Duties : The Vista Member will be responsible for progressing the Master Volunteer program in South Dakota. The Vista Member will review existing curricula, identify gaps in content, and provide research and development of framework of additional curricula. This will involve collaborating with staff to pull together content and designing materials to fit into an online and/or in-person course format. In addition, the Vista Member will work with external partners to develop content to appropriately address cultural diversity, traditional food preservation, etc. While the Vista Member will work on developing an array of curricula, a key focus will be placed on amplifying the current Master Food Preserver program.
