Economic Opportunity Corps 2020-2021

Located in downtown Buffalo, The Service Collaborative is seeking fulltime AmeriCorps members to join the Economic Opportunity Corps (EOC). EOC AmeriCorps members are placed in local nonprofits and provide the community with essential financial literacy services and programmatic support. For this AmeriCorps opportunity, financial literacy service can include a variety of issue areas including but not limited to financial coaching & tutoring, direct client legal, housing, and public benefits supports, financial aid assistance, managing community programs, outreach, and other program aligned direct service. EOC service is tailored to the specific host-site and the population served by the organization. All EOC members should anticipate providing a combination of financial education, client management, program implementation/design, and service projects. EOC members are not required to have prior financial or human services experience. What we look for is a willingness and attitude to commit yourself to a term of service. We want individuals who are thoughtful, kind, hardworking, and have a passion for creating positive change. EOC partners will be finalized by May 8th but we encourage applicants to apply to the general EOC posting as soon as possible. Site specific recruitment posts will be available no later than May 15th. A list of past partners can be found by visiting: https://www.tscwny.org/Experience-Service/Current-Opportunities. We hope you will join our team. Together we can make a difference.

Member Duties : Full-time EOC members complete 1700 hours of service. Hours are completed at the member’s host-site as well as through EOC team trainings, self-directed professional development, and service projects. Responsibilities are host-site dependent but revolve around providing a combination of financial education, client management, program implementation/design, and other direct service. Members are required to reach a minimum number of unique individuals ranging from 25, 50, or 100 clients. EOC AmeriCorps are expected to become part of not just the EOC team, but full participants in the activities and culture of their host-site. Members take part in a team retreat, EOC and host-site orientation, and participate in local and national days of service. Members participate in monthly area-wide professional development trainings, engage in life-after AmeriCorps planning, team social events, and have opportunities to connect and network with the broader AmeriCorps community.
