Campus Compact of Oregon Summer VISTA Members
 
 
 
Summer VISTAs will develop and implement summer learning programming for rising 9th graders. In these programs, youth will develop specific skills and resources in preparation for continuing their post-secondary education. Focus areas include: environmental stewardship training and/or preparing for joining the workforce, culturally responsive mentoring, and academic support. VISTA sites include Champions Academy, Native American Youth and Family Center, Wild Diversity, PDX Alliance for Selfcare, and Urban League of Portland.

Member Duties : Assist with orientation of students to program. Strategies to include: phone calls, and tabling at events. Develop program activities such as classroom curriculum, games, reflection activities, and service projects. Develop systems to track, report, and improve student attendance. Develop communication strategies and plans to engage families and the community in program activities and student success. Products may include: flyers, newsletters, presentations, and video. Support program implementation through direct service such as tutoring, classroom facilitation, and student reflection. Provide COVID-19 response support to low-income communities as needed.
