''20-'21 Support Services Sustainability VISTA- GCBHV- MHAGC

Are you ready to fight poverty and make a huge and lasting impact on the lives of residents of Upstate South Carolina? For over 64 years, Mental Health America of Greenville County (MHAGC) has been positively impacting mental health across the region. Recent assessments of low-income adults indicate that limited access to mental health services and the growing opioid epidemic are two of the greatest concerns in the county. The Support Services Sustainability VISTA will research best practices involving services for individuals living with chronic mental illness and experiencing poverty. The VISTA will develop and help implement a plan for improving the agency's representative payee programs, housing services, and collection drives of toiletry items for this population. Greenville, South Carolina continues to receive national and international recognition for its southern charm, opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, arts scene, sports culture, and cuisine. Greenville has been lauded by The New York Times as one of the 52 cities in the world to visit, by USA Today as one of the ten best emerging destinations, and as one of America’s ten best downtowns for its combination of revitalized commercial and park space. Greenville is located at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains. **This position is eligible for an annual housing stipend of $600 paid to the landlord monthly/quarterly and for a membership to a specific gym facility.
