Drake University, IA&MN Campus Compact VISTA

Drake University seeks to redress historic injustices and uphold equity and inclusion as one of the highest values. The development of the CORE scholars pipeline directly aligns with this mission and seeks to further higher education opportunities for historically marginalized groups. This project will develop the C.O.R.E. Scholars program to prepare students of color for college. These students will meet at Drake once a month to prepare themselves for college, through exploring the application process, working on writing skills, and fine-tuning their academic success skills for the undergraduate level. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. There are three focus areas, this project being in the Education Corps, which supports sites in long-term approaches to issues related to K-12 educational success and college access including literacy programs. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
