Willis Dady Homeless Services, IA&MN Campus Compact VISTA

For over 30 years Willis Dady Homeless Services has been empowering clients to break the cycle of homelessness and become self-sufficient. Our programs range from homelessness prevention to street outreach, rapid re-housing, emergency shelter and supported employment. The Willis Dady Volunteer Development VISTA will launch new volunteer-led initiatives to better meet our goals of helping clients escape homelessness. As a result, this VISTA will connect volunteers to all areas of our work, serving over 1,500 people with a goal of helping more than 60% of them attain housing stability. This VISTA will help our organization build a team of volunteers to connect with previous clients to assess client outcomes across all programs. They will engage local colleges and universities in research and internship partnerships to help develop best practices in the long-term prevention of homelessness. They will expand peer-to-peer volunteer opportunities. They will work with staff by brainstorming, planning, and evaluating new community-based projects. The Volunteer Development will recruit, train and support a diverse group of volunteers allowing us to expand our services. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. There are three focus areas, this project being in the Opportunity Corps which supports sites in long-term approaches to issues related to personal economic success including housing and employment support. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
