23-24 Clark Conservation District, Science Outreach Spec.

This is an AmeriCorps national service position contingent on funding and open until filled. Since 1942, Clark Conservation District (Clark CD) has worked with individuals and communities to conserve and manage water quality, soils, and natural habitats for the benefit of the public. Clark CD provides technical, financial, and educational resources to meet the needs of the local landowner for the conservation of our resources. We are completely voluntary and non-regulatory and 100% grant-funded. Urbanizing Clark County has been particularly susceptible to losing farmland under social and economic pressures from housing, industry, and development. As communities grow, the geographical divisions between agriculture and urban areas are no longer clear and many farms are surrounded by residential and commercial growth. Clark County is historically an agricultural area that is quickly becoming urbanized. Property values have skyrocketed, and smaller farms have become more prevalent than larger operations. The Member will serve the communities by connecting farmers, residents with stream and forest with resources to improve conservation practices on their land.
