'20 Family Self Sufficiency Program VISTA - SHA - VIP
 
 
 
This position is part of the VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. As a VISTA at Spartanburg Housing Authority, you will create programs in the four public housing communities to build financial stability and resiliency through collaboration with community agencies. You will establish a volunteer database and objective to connect people year-round with SHA. You will research and apply for grant opportunities that will enhance services Spartanburg Housing Authority provides for residents and increase staff capacity. The VIP program offers a unique approach to VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability. Member Duties : Help build capacity of the Spartanburg Housing Authority by creating neighborhood programs that enable access to community agencies and build opportunities for financial self-sufficiency. This VISTA will also identify capacity-building opportunities for volunteers and develop resources to help SHA residents move out of poverty.
