E3.20 Zeitgeist Community Development Coordinator VISTA
Zeitgeist Center for Arts & Community builds inclusive, creative, sustainable social systems in people, institutions, and communities. That means taking down systems of oppression, piece by piece, in creative ways. In their place, Zeitgeist builds connections to more inclusive, sustainable, and creative systems that address the cultural, social, and economic determinants of health in long-lasting, cycle-breaking ways. VISTA member will work to grow organizational capacity by designing, implementing and evaluating internal and external systems, processes, data collection, and evaluation tools to better cross-pollinate work throughout our organization and community. Zeitgeist’s current programs include, but aren’t limited to: -The Places for People Campaign – community development programming focusing on equitable transportation, neighborhood revitalization, creative placemaking, and community engagement practices and systems -Zinema 2 - an independent movie theater showing first-run and repertoire films of all kinds, and bringing diverse stories to NE MN. -Teatro Zuccone - a performance theater helping provide space for stories, cultural expression, and ideas from across the region and beyond. -Zeitgeist Arts Café - a restaurant providing opportunities to connect with each other over great food and drinks. -Renegade Theater Company – a mainstage and improv theater program designed to raise the voice of artists and tell stories that wouldn’t otherwise be told Each objective, assignment, and list of member activities offer the VISTA position a chance to engage directly in programming and build relationships with community members and program leaders. Through that experience, the position will gain clarity in the desired program outcomes and be better able to contribute to the work of building more integrated, sophisticated evaluative tools and processes.
