United Way of East Central Iowa, IA&MN Campus Compact VISTA
 
 
 
United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI) works with more than 100 cross sector partners to fight for the education, financial stability, and health of every member of our community. The Opportunity Center focuses on providing community members with learning, job-skills, and certification and accreditations to help them gain or improve their employment status. As a leading partner in the Opportunity Center, UWECI and the VISTA will provide research, facilitation, and project management to implement an Employee Resource Network (ERN). The VISTA will have the opportunity to work with multiple non-profit partners and businesses to assess needs and research successful ERNs in other communities to select a model to implement locally. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. There are three focus areas, this project being in the Opportunity Corps which supports sites in long-term approaches to issues related to personal economic success including housing and employment support. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***

Member Duties : The Opportunity Center VISTA will research the development of Employee Resource Networks in other communities to assist the Steering Committee in selecting a model for our community. Once an ERN is selected, the VISTA will work with the Steering Committee to implement the ERN model locally, engaging with cross-sector organizations to build a robust resource for those in need.
