PCC College & Career Specialists (Middle/High School)
 
 
 
AmeriCorps members will serve within Access Programs at Middle Schools and High Schools in the Tacoma Public Schools District and at the University of Puget Sound campus. Service includes developing and leading tutoring, workshops to develop college awareness and readiness for students in the program.

Member Duties : Attend & lead tutoring, study hall sessions, college awareness lessons in the after-school program weekly totaling up to 16 hours M-F Develop & lead workshops & enrichment activities on college readiness & organize Access to College Days at the University of Puget Sound monthly Support the Access Programs on developing engagement opportunities for students Contribute to the success of Summer Academic Challenge, Access Programs' signature four-week summer program Participate in the ongoing development & improvement of the Access Programs such as participating in professional development opportunities & recruiting Access volunteers Track student progress in reading, math, & organizational skills as determined by school partners, Access Programs, & Washington Service Corps Communicate with teachers to identify students’ academic challenges & use the information to support student success Build strong relationships with students, families, & school staff to streamline learning
