20-21 PCC Bobcat Learning Center (Middle School)
In partnership with Peace Community Center, Trinity Presbyterian Church is committed to supporting Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood children, youth and young adults to reach their full potential. The Bobcat Learning Center is an after-school tutoring and mentoring program on site at Jason Lee Middle School. Trinity's goal is to support and accelerate every student's individual academic progress primarily through one-on-one mentoring and tutoring. Bobcat Learning Center Staff are partners within the Peace Community Center Service Team, serving directly with students, their families, the schools and community members. Bobcat Learning Center Staff serve students within Jason Lee Middle School during the school day and in the after-school space, providing 1 on 1 tutoring, instruction, and enrichment programs. Through service and professional development, our hope is that Peace Community Center AmeriCorps members will 1. Grow as individuals through increased self-awareness and commitment to social justice based in critical self-reflection on values, identity, and worldview; 2. Develop a strong connection to community, both within the Center and the local Tacoma community through ongoing team-building and group development projects and family and community events in Tacoma; 3. Be supported and challenged to gain skills to lead as professionals in our community and to advance Peace Community Center's mission, vision, and values. Please visit our website to learn more about the Center's Service Team at Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled.
