WellShare International VISTA, IA & MN Campus Compact

WellShare International partners with diverse communities to promote health and well-being, and has done so since 1979. Using a health equity approach and a community health worker model, WellShare focuses on building healthy communities with refugee and immigrant populations. Key WellShare programs that will be in the VISTA’s portfolio include our early childhood family home visiting program, East African Smoke-Free Project, Somali and Karen child spacing program, and several other of our Minnesota-based programs. As the VISTA volunteer, your key goal will be to help refugees and immigrants overcome barriers to healthy living by leading participatory approaches for the creation of new cross-cutting systems and tools to increase WellShare’s organizational capacity in program monitoring and evaluation, community partnership development and service outreach. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. There are three focus areas, this project being in the Health Corps, which supports sites in long-term approaches to the social determinants of health. This includes meeting low-income student needs and a variety of projects with health-focused community organizations. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor . Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
