2020-2021 Digital Development Officer VISTA
 
 
 
Centro Romero is a community-based organization that has been serving the low-income Latino immigrant and refugee community on the northeast side of Chicago for 35 years. Its mission is to empower those with the fewest options in the immigrant and refugee community by developing and strengthening the family unit, fostering community leadership and providing quality social and adjustment services. The goal of this VISTA project is to generate $8,000 in additional funding and increase the number of individual donors by 50 for Centro Romero, particularly those who will become recurring donors. This VISTA project will increase our ability to fight poverty by these additional funds that will increase direct-service hours to benefit clients with housing needs. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge/experience about community organizations, fundraising; possess good organization skills, verbal and written skills, and basic computer skills; be teamwork oriented; and interested in developing their leadership skills. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : Solicit and generate $8,000 in additional funding and increase the number of individual donors by 50 for Centro Romero, particularly those who will become recurring donors or from increased amounts from current donors. Plan, develop, and implement a new highly targeted online fundraising campaign, such as a membership campaign.
