Real Men Real Heroes (RMRH) is a youth mentoring organization working with young people from grades 3rd-12th. The organization begin in 2008 and our programs are designed to improve life-outcomes for disadvantaged youth by providing mentors and positive role models. RMRH meets weekly with 60-75 boys in our after-school program. The after-school mentoring is designed to address our mentees' physical, emotional, mental, and behavioral and academic well-being. We run our operations from the newly created Founders Grove building and do our in-school outreach throughout Wichita while conducting our after-school mentoring at Chester Lewis Academy. You will help us assess the current state of RMRH efforts in mentorship programming. This job is challenging as we work with over 100 youth in our after-school programming and over 2,000 in our in-school activities. In addition to our group mentoring, we create and participate in community events that affect thousands of people throughout the Wichita community. This VISTA candidate will need to have a passion for youth mentorship, the ability to work with diverse populations of race, gender, and low-income families. You will also need to be comfortable with computer use, technology, and be able to to work in a group atmosphere. RMRH is results driven and requires a high level of self-responsibility and self-accountability, as you will be granted a certain level of work autonomy. You should join our project because we are truly making a difference in not just kids lives, but the greater Wichita community as well. You will get plenty of opportunity to implement ideas, be creative and know that your efforts are directly making an impact.
