Campus Compact VISTA Capital Community College

"Capital Community College is in the final stages of creating its Center for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion to address the non-academic barriers that prevent students from completing coursework, graduating, and ultimately being successful. The VISTA project aims to support this mission by building capacity to comprehensively improve food security. The VISTA member will support the newly created Capital Cares Pantry, and engaging in a holistic approach, will work with members of the Student Activities Office and Foodshare to develop and execute a comprehensive plan to reduce students’ need for food assistance and develop healthy eating habits. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $509.88 in Hartford County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide access to free or reduced courses and additional professional development opportunities. The AmeriCorps VISTA serving at Capital Community College will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides VISTAs the chance to connect with members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit supports the professional and personal growth of VISTA members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. If you would like to learn more about serving with Campus Compact VISTA, please email our VISTA Leaders at vista@compact.org."
