ANEW BAM - Literacy Leader (LitMN)

ANEW BAM is a culturally responsive organization geared towards Black children’s learning and intervention. The Literacy Leadership opportunity is to help students who read at a 3rd grade level or below. Serving youth from grades K- 5, work with volunteers and staff to help students master literacy skills to encourage them in reading comprehension, phonics, and literary expression through the arts by developing a culturally responsive curriculum and helping to market it to partners. Students attending our Saturday literacy and summer programs often come excited to be in a learning atmosphere like ours but are often faced with a lack of confidence and academic fatigue. The Literacy Leader will help us turn parents into volunteers and expand our reach by connecting with schools and libraries in need of culturally responsive literacy intervention options. The Literacy Leader will gain communication and marketing skills. They will also learn how to create interactive, responsive curriculum. Serve with ANEW BAM to help enhance and improve the literacy experience for African American children in need. Our organization is an easy going, fluid flowing organization open to feedback for improvements geared toward success for Black children. We believe that learning how to help Black children can help all children’s intervention strategies. We love music, arts and challenges! Especially as it relates to learning! We hope to find a Literacy Leader that can align with our work. We ask that Literacy Leaders are comfortable with public speaking and have the ability to do presentations. Additional benefits include: emergency funds, career training, bus cards.
