Andy Roddick Foundation VISTA Summer Associate (Austin)
 
 
 
The summer associates will serve the City of Austin to alleviate poverty in Austin by serving with the Andy Roddick Foundation (ARF) to implement summer learning opportunities. The associates will assist the ARF to expand opportunities for young people to learn, thrive, and succeed. Children in under-resourced communities experience an opportunity gap – they consistently have less enriching opportunities than their better-off peers. The Summer Associates will work with ARF’s six-week summer learning program. Enrolling over 250 students across two sites, the summer learning program engages elementary students in hands-on learning in STEM, literacy, arts, community service, physical activity, and more.

Member Duties : The Andy Roddick Foundation (ARF) Summer Associates will work with ARF’s six-week summer learning program. Enrolling over 250 students across two sites, the summer learning program engages elementary students in hands-on learning in STEM, literacy, arts, community service, physical activity, and more. The Summer Associates will facilitate student learning by supporting instructors in providing the lesson plans and engaging with students to ensure they have the support they need. They will participate in a week of pre-service training along with summer staff. They will also engage in weekly staff meetings and receive coaching support from more senior program staff. The Summer Associates will also manage groups of students and guide them through their daily activities, support the site supervisors in managing daily site activities including transitions between activities, support volunteers and partners, and engage with families.
