UGA VISTA 2020 College Factory Summer Associate #2
 
 
 
The mission of College Factory is to provide college planning resources to youth and families in the community in order to build a college-going culture in Athens-Clarke County, GA encouraging youth to complete the process of enrolling in post-secondary education with the eventual outcomes of an increased graduation rate and a better prepared, more competitive workforce. Volunteers from local colleges and universities, along with community members, make up the caring, passionate, and experienced individuals who assist in running college factory programs. College Factory offers high school-aged students access to college coaching and ACT test prep. Additionally, the program delivers community workshops with college access and retention goals. College planning, test prep, and life skills expansion. College Factory’s Go Succeed Fellowship program pairs high school students with college coaches who guide the students through the college admissions process. The personal attention from College Factory Coaches helps ensure the success of College Factory Fellows. Free college awareness and planning workshops that position college-bound students and their families for college options and help them make wise college choices are offered regularly.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate VISTA will support College Factory’s mission of providing college and career planning resources to youth and families in Athens-Clarke County, GA through supporting the recruitment and retention of volunteers to provide resources for first-generation college students. College Factory volunteers assist as college coaches, with ACT/SAT test prep, and with the coordination of workshops and other programming. The Summer Associate will help develop recruitment and training plans and materials, and will assist with preparing for fall 2020 programming, including updating/digitizing curriculum guides, enhancing program evaluation, and planning college tours.
