2020-2021 Landlord Outreach Support VISTA

Lake County Housing Authority’s mission is to provide affordable, safe, sanitary housing and associated services to the most vulnerable members of the Lake County community. The goal of the Landlord Outreach Project (LOP) is to increase the available of Lake County rental units accessible to the 3000+ low-income voucher holders through the education and incentivization of area landlords who would otherwise not participate in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. Tasks include the identification of property owners, addressing the roots of non-participation, scheduling community events, & the production of marketing materials. Encouraging landlords to accept the voucher will grant access to high-opportunity areas whose benefits to the households could assist in the elimination of generational poverty. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website.
