RGFP Outreach & Engagement VISTA

Alamosa, located in the San Luis Valley of South Central Colorado has a rich history and unique culture. The San Luis Valley is home to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, the Rio Grande National Forest, and a section of the Rio Grande. There are countless opportunities for adventure and outdoor recreation. Additionally, Alamosa has a strong culture of volunteerism and national service. The mission of the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition (LFC) is to foster an equitable local food system that restores the health of the people, community, economy and ecosystem. The LFC works towards this mission by supporting several programs, including the Rio Grande Farm Park, Valley Roots Food Hub, Cooking Matters, Local Food Local Places, the MoKi Mobile Kitchen, and the SLV farmers market network. Working with the LFC gives you a unique opportunity to learn all aspects of creating an equitable local food system--from regenerative farming, youth education & recreation, local food distribution and direct markets, to advocacy, marketing, and community partnerships. Learn more at our website slvlocalfoods.org. As the Outreach & Engagement Coordinator VISTA member, you will develop organization-wide capacity by leading marketing and outreach efforts for the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition (LFC). You will get a unique opportunity to work with the spectrum of LFC programs and see an entire local food system at work.
