RGFP Project Coordinator
Alamosa, located in the San Luis Valley of South Central Colorado has a rich history and unique culture. The San Luis Valley is home to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, the Rio Grande National Forest, and a section of the Rio Grande. There are countless opportunities for adventure and outdoor recreation. Additionally, Alamosa has a strong culture of volunteerism and national service. The mission of the San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition is to foster an equitable local food system that restores the health of the people, community, economy and ecosystem. The Rio Grande Farm Park is a program within the Local Foods Coalition within walking distance from downtown Alamosa. The Farm Park brings the community together to enjoy the outdoors, grow food, promote healthy living, learn about regenerative farming, and share resources. As the RGFP Project Coordinator VISTA member, you will build capacity for the Rio Grande Farm Park by coordinating capital construction projects, fundraising and grant writing, and developing programs. You will get the chance to work with our farmers by building capacity and structure for our Farmer Incubator program, as well as building partnerships and structure around the RGFP environmental education programming. You will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of creating an equitable local food system from other LFC programs--from regenerative farming, youth education & recreation, local food distribution and direct markets, to marketing and community partnerships.
