Summer Reads – St Cloud, MN – Yes Network (LitMN)

The Yes Network is dedicated to creating vibrant, loving, prosperous neighborhoods through our support of children and families in the places they call home. It has grown from an all-volunteer group providing food for children in low-income neighborhoods in 2011 to one of the top five non-profits in Minnesota in the number of summer breakfasts and lunches served. Avenues for engagement include neighborhood summer programs that bring children together for meals, organized outdoor games, enrichment activities, art/music, and site-based summer school. Together, these components encourage good nutrition, summer learning, physical health, and social emotional well-being. The Yes Network is organizing “outdoor classrooms” in several neighborhoods, including: 1) a language arts/STEM program, 2) an art/music program, and 3) outdoor recreation. Integrated lesson plans are being developed using a carefully selected book each week to help students think deeper about the learning opportunities in the stories they are reading. Make a difference in a child’s life while gaining valuable skills and experience for your future profession! If you are considering a career in education, counseling, social work, coaching, child development or are interested in working with children and families, this position is for you! It will provide a practical, meaningful experience to build your resume. *VISTAs serve full-time, 40 hours per week, primarily Monday–Friday. Term of service is June 15–August 9, trainings (webinar) during first week and most Fridays. Multiple positions available. Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
