2020-2021 Community and Outreach Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
The mission of the Spanish Coalition for Housing (SCH) is to provide comprehensive housing counseling, education, and housing resources necessary for Latinos and other low-to-moderate income familes in the Chicagoland area, develop competence and responsibility in meeting their financial and housing needs, and to advocate for and proactively promote additional resources for them. Spanish Coalition for Housing is looking for a VISTA who can research and identify the communication gaps within agencies across the communities it serves and how to best manage it. The VISTA will develop a framework for data management and usage that compliments a new partnership relationship management tool. This will entail centralizing an outreach plan, calendar and advanced capabilities and best practices associated with communication tools. This work will ultimately assist Spanish Coalition for Housing expand its outreach throughout communities, not just the ones currently served, while also assisting other organizations in the process do the same. The candidate should be an effective communicator, highly organized, and data driven. The candidate will need to be comfortable exploring new partnerships that align with the agency’s mission through high level research and data analysis. Knowledge in Microsoft Office: Excel, Google Docs and email is preferred. By enhancing the communication across agencies, Spanish Coalition for Housing will be able to expand its message and services as well as connect its current clients to other needed services across Chicago. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : 1. VISTA will review alignment with SCH mission and strategic objectives. 2. VISTA will collect homebuyer education/financial education, post-purchase, foreclosure prevention, and rental/landlord services, current partnership lists, and frequency of outreach and communications across all three SCH offices. 3. Identification of current addresses, emails, and phone numbers. 4. Preliminary research/review and identification of partnerships that have not been established with SCH in the past or have not partnered with lately. 5. Present initial findings to Senior Management Team and receive feedback and suggestions on current partnership list. 6. Develop a knowledge management solution: centralize and better share an organizational partnership relations calendar that includes different tabs on counselor outreach dates, workshop dates, and organizational events.
