2020 Youth Ride or Die VISTA Summer Associate
All Chicago’s mission is to unite our community and resources to provide solutions that ensure and sustain the stability of home. All Chicago prevents and ends homelessness through our 4 signature approaches: emergency financial assistance, community partnerships, data analytics and training and research. All Chicago is seeking a mission- and values-aligned, highly organized Youth Ride or Die VISTA to strengthen and increase efficiencies in reporting, best practices and support community based workplans focusing on youth homelessness. As of December 17, 2019, 1,415 youth, defined as 18-24 years old, are experiencing homelessness. The VISTA project aligns with our mission and meets this need due to its focus on building the capacity on youth homelessness and Youth Action Board (YAB) to better serve youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The Chicago CoC is participating in a nationwide initiative toward ending and preventing youth homelessness, the Grand Challenge, a problem-solving initiative grounded in several critical approaches: youth collaboration, LGBTQ+ and racial equity and quality improvement. The ideal candidate is wickedly well-organized, incredibly dependable, and adept at working in partnership with young people. All Chicago has a strong preference for candidates with lived expertise of homelessness. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. The VISTA will be responsible for establishing best practices in supporting the Grand Challenge. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website. This position can start any Monday in June. Talk with your interviewer for details.
