2020-2021 Development & Communications Associate VISTA
 
 
 
Northside Community Development Corporation’s mission is to foster community development and create and preserve affordable and diverse housing opportunities in Rogers Park and Chicago through education, training, advocacy and development. NCDC provides homebuyer and foreclosure prevention counseling services to diverse, underserved and low-to-moderate income populations, including those who are below the 50% area median income range. By increasing its grant funding, it will improve its financial and operational capacity. By improving its communications strategies, it will improve NCDC’s visibility and allow it to attract more individual and corporate donors. By making these improvements, the VISTA will ensure NCDC sustains the delivery of its services and help more people in need of the critical anti-poverty, housing security focused programming being offered by NCDC. The ideal candidate will have some experience in grant proposal writing and be knowledgeable of nonprofit program delivery and operations. They should also be well-organized, eager to learn, communicate effectively, and have the ability to balance a wide variety of projects. Spanish fluency a plus. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : Enhance NCDC’s grant-writing and fundraising strategies, and raise a total of at least $60,000 from these strategies. Enhance NCDC’s individual and corporate fundraising strategies, and raise a total of at least $15,000 from these strategies. Enhance the NCDC’s communications strategy and modes of disseminating information, messaging/content in its written materials, website, social media, etc to the point that social media and website traffic is increased by 25%.
